Exciting things are happening in my little corner of the book publishing world! Whether this is the first you’ve heard of What a Woman is Worth or you’ve already committed your community group to buying an entire case when it comes out this summer (aw hey, thanks!), I think you’ll be interested in these updates and hope you’ll share them. Thanks, friends!
Second Call for Submissions
After getting an incredible initial turn-out, I’ve made a second call for submissions for What a Woman is Worth in order to fill the book with a broader range of angles and perspectives. Please see the Civitas Press website for all the new details and spread the news!
My First Video Interview
I had the pleasure of being interviewed by Lisa Colón DeLay, whose supreme editing skills managed to eliminate my numerous nervous mentions of the word “sex” and allowed me to look far more composed than I felt for my first book interview. Please see (and share!) it below, and check out her site for more of her fun video interviews.

I love that you stay all on-message. My Ninja interview covered I think 3 different topics and I think we didn’t even get to one of the areas that we talked about.
And this makes me all the more bummed to miss you down in Nashville. Dang 16 year olds who have to have a birthday party at the same time one of my favorite people on the internets is speaking! (And, of course, the need to make money instead of spending it.)
Stoked to see everything that’s going on for you! YAY!
I think the fact that I appear on-message is further testament to Lisa’s ninja skills. Because I really did talk about sex (and my blog) a lot more than what appears there!
Fantastic! Look at you! All moving forward and everything! Whoo hoo!
Thanks! I was moving forward because we were having sound issues and I couldn’t hear Lisa.
What? You mean there’s just more goodness to come?
I really think so! I think there are so many stories out there that will really open our eyes– I just have to find them!
Great interview, Tamara! I can’t wait to see you SOON!
Thank you! I am so looking forward to our Nashville slumber party!
Tamara you rocked it!
I’m really excited about the project!
No worries, Alise! We’ll do another one when “Not Afraid” launches…and we’ll have LASER FOCUS!!! hahahaa!
Ha! No, that wasn’t YOUR fault – that’s all me. I’m just not one for a single topic. This is why I’ll never actually write a book – too much going on in my brain.
Thanks, Lisa– you were a gracious host! Really put me at ease and helped me not feel like a total scatterbrain.
I am so happy you are spreading this message to so many. It’s VERY important. I see so much suffering from woman doubting their worth, 3 women…who need to believe this, are now in my life.
And it kills me to see them think they are worth so little.
Your essay bringing in the influence of your Hispanic culture was part of what inspired me to try to get some more diverse perspectives!
I love it when we, the readers, get a chance to see the writers in “moving pictures.” It’s cool to get a better idea of who you are. I can’t wait for the book.
Thanks, Ken!
Ken, you took the words right out of my fingers!!
Tamara, I’m super stoked for you! I’m going to check out more about the project. I have a broad sense, but I don’t think I quite “get” it.
Are you ever composed on camera! Woohoo. Go, T, go!
Thanks, lady. Smoke and mirrors.
Great job on the interview! It can’t be your first. Really.
This is exciting stuff, and I can’t wait to meet you and hear more about you and the book and life!
Thank you! Looking forward to Nashville!
It’s good to finally “meet” you (at least half way). You’re the type of person who puts others at ease.
I’ll be sure to spread the word about your second call for submissions.
Thanks so much for helping to spread the word, Renee!
Okay, I went and read the original post. WOW. That’s so moving.
Congrats and good luck – what a noble and wonderful project.
Thanks for taking the time to go back to the beginning. I think it’s an important project, and its roots are deep and painful.
I am going to check this video out and I think I would like to submit as my story really fits into this message but I want to make sure that you agree. I would be writing about what it has been like to affirm my own worth and future as a woman and mom in the light of my moms suicide. I think a lot of women struggle with their own identity as a woman and Mom in the light of a broken and painful relationship with their own mom.
I’m sorry for your loss. Yes, I think you should write.
Look at you!! So cute, so fun, so smart. Go, girl. GO. Looking forward to this collection, that’s for sure.
Aw, thanks, Diana! I think it’s going to be pretty incredible.
